A one-litre electric dallah: a polished stainless body with a long beak and a black handle, standing on a black base with a display and a bilingual keypad. The panel carries an on/off key, a 'start make coffee' key and a 'keep warm' key, with three indicators above them — add coffee, add cardamom, ready.
Gulf Dalla's own sequence: fill with water without passing the upper limit, press the switch key and then the coffee key. Once the water boils the add-coffee indicator lights with an audible alert, then the add-cardamom indicator lights, and after three minutes the machine beeps to say the coffee is ready. Press the switch key and then the warm key and it holds the coffee hot for two hours. At a litre it is sized for a full majlis rather than for two cups.
