Roasting principleFluid bed — the beans float on a bed of hot air and stay at a consistent temperature through the roast

A home coffee roaster that works on hot air: the beans lift and circulate inside a tempered glass chamber so the heat reaches every one of them evenly, and the whole roast stays in sight. A batch is 100 g of green coffee and the machine draws 2100 W at 220-240 V.

Two knobs sit on the base, one for fan speed and one for temperature, beside a digital timer display, a power key and an up and a down key, all labelled in Arabic and English. The top cover twists to lock and carries the chaff collector inside it, which catches the skins so they do not scorch and taint the batch. When the roast is done the glass chamber lifts out by its handle, the collector is emptied and the brush that comes with it clears the mesh. The box holds a measuring cup and that brush.
