A washable mesh filter is included, so no paper is needed. Lifting the carafe mid-brew stops the drip onto the warming plate, the plate keeps the coffee warm for 40 minutes and then the machine switches itself off, and there is boil-dry protection. Only the carafe and the funnel are dishwasher safe. LePresso states the product meets the LFGB and FDA food-safety standards, and it can be used for drip brewing or hand pour-over.
